MAP testing will be after Spring Break, April 10,11,12.
Practicing for the MAP test is almost impossible since the test contains many skills that have not yet been covered for second graders.  However, I have looked around and found a pretty good resource for us to try, it does cover standards.  I will be sending a sheet home, stapled in the blue folder, for weekly practice.  It would be a great idea for you to sit with your child to help or just to see what potential test items may look like.  The students are to record their score and they may retake the test.  This not for my grading purposes at all!
Hopefully, this is a resource to help kids improve and raise their spring test scores.  You might find yourself teaching a little :)  We will do a second set in a few weeks which is really more like the MAP test.

Helping Mrs. Dixon

Ronald McDonald House

Parents,
As some of you might know, our little granddaughter, Anslee Kate, had open heart surgery when she was just 6 months old last January.  My daughter, Erin, has declared to give back to the amazing volunteers and resources provided to she and our family during this time.  We experienced first hand how every little bit helps families of babies/children having procedures or surgeries at Egleston Hospital Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
The following is a list of items we will collect and deliver to the Ronald McDonald House.  We will collect these items for the next two weeks and deliver them on Saturday, January 21st.  If your family would like to participate there will be a collection box in our classroom.  We would so appreciate it!
Thank you! -Mrs. Dixon

100th Day Donation

Dear Parents,

Can you believe it? Wednesday, January 18th will be the 100th day of school! To celebrate, we are asking each child to bring in 100 cents on Wednesday. The coins can be of one denomination or they can be mixed. We will spend some time counting money, sorting money, and possibly even graphing our results. All monies will be donated to our school’s Relay for Life. We will also have several other special activities for the 100th day in school.

Thank you in advance!

I'll share pictures on the blog Wednesday for your amusement!
