Spelling Pattern:  

r-controlled (ar,are,air,or,ore,oar)

 List One: hair,farm,dare,soar,glare,garden,fort,dairy,chore,store

ListTwo: particular,careful,carpenter,explore,fortress,repair,carnival,
tornado,prepare,coarse

High Frequency Words for all students: 

always, write,time, told, they're

5 words to be determined by the spelling pattern of the week

Students have not studied these words.  I call them "Mystery Words."

No homework means no recess.  Please initial homework,

 letting me know that you've reviewed it with your child.

Homework must be done on notebook paper with a pencil.  Students are to put their name and number in the upper right corner.  They know the procedure for this! Not splashed across the top, please.

MAP testing will be after Spring Break, April 10,11,12.

Practicing for the MAP test is almost impossible since the test contains many skills that have not yet been covered for second graders.  However, I have looked around and found a pretty good resource for us to try, it does cover standards.  I will be sending a sheet home, stapled in the blue folder, for weekly practice.  It would be a great idea for you to sit with your child to help or just to see what potential test items may look like.  The students are to record their score and they may retake the test.  This not for my grading purposes at all!  

Hopefully, this is a resource to help kids improve and raise their spring test scores.  You might find yourself teaching a little :)  We will do a second set in a few weeks which is really more like the MAP test.

Tuesday:   Reading Log: 10 minutes, Prepdog Lang. Arts 16,17

Wednesday: Reading Log: 10 minutes, Prepdog Reading Informational Text 2,3

Thursday:Reading Log: 10 minutes, Prepdog Math Numbers and Operation 12,13

Please continue to use XtraMath when time allows. 

Calendar:

Book Fair-March 16th, 10:30-11:00, our class will attend to purchase books.

Our Ice Cream Social benefiting the RBES Media Center will be Tuesday, March 14th, 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the cafeteria. Please send in any of the following toppings and materials to the RBES front office, attention Jennifer Dollander:

Caramel, hot fudge, whipped cream, cherries, 2-liter bottles of Coke, gummies, Sour Patch Kids, M&Ms, Skittles, crushed Oreos, and any other fun toppings for ice cream.

Also, plastic spoons, paper bowls and Solo cups.
