We have 19 students.

Addition Facts:  I am so proud of my class for working hard to learn addition facts!  One hundred percent of our class improved from the first test in late August.  I think they like competition!

Congratulations to these for correctly answering 100 addition problems in 5 minutes:

Kason, Ty, Macey, Nicholas, Reeva, Xindi, Chase, Yug, and Emma who was almost there with 97!

Way to go kiddos, I'm proud of you!!!!!

Spelling Pattern:  Words with -ng and -nk

List One:

 strong, skunk,tricked,spring,pink,pokes,yank,drink,cramped,trunk

                                    

 List Two: 

chipmunk,mustang,wanted,interested,wrong,blossomed,exercised,

comprehended,prolong,twinkled

High Frequency Words for all students:

because(still causing us problems in writing),had,not,time,each

5 words to be determined by the spelling pattern of the week

Students have not studied these words.  I call them "Mystery Words."

Homework: No homework means no recess.

Monday:  Holiday

Tuesday:  20 minutes of reading for reading log, will send home Tuesday

Write a sentence for each spelling word 1-10 your list.

Sentence must be at least five words and some  meaning of the word can be determined by your sentence.

Homework must be done on notebook paper with a pencil.  Students are to put their name and number in the upper right corner.  They know the procedure for this! Not splashed across the top, please.

 Make sure you know the meaning of your words 1-10.  We may have a pop vocabulary quiz at the end of the week.  :)

Wednesday: 20 minutes of reading for reading log

Worksheet:  I will send as an attachment, so check your email on Tuesday, a day early.

Thursday: 20 minutes of reading for reading log

Spelling City, use the link on the right to do a practice test and a game.

Reading Log:

I will be sending a new reading log on Tuesday. Oct.11th.  Please have your child, not you, fill out the reading log this time.  We need to learn that titles need capital letters on all the important words. What better way to learn this standard than actually using it?

Also, please don't use Tumble Books on the log the next nine weeks. Make sure the book your child is reading is a book at his/her level or slightly above.

Please continue to use XtraMath when time allows.  I have moved students to subtraction!

Khan Academy:  You may begin using Kan Academy.  I have no real directions for this, so use it as you see your child needs practice or extra support.

DASH- Friday, October 21.
Our class goal is:  Seventy percent (13 students) of our class will have 2, or more, sponsors for the DASH.
